Mo Knows Hair…. A Breath of Fresh Air On YouTube

Hey girl did you know that Mo Knows Hair

If you didn’t well you are late and you need to go check her out. I found Mo this past fall when she posted her 1st video and fell in love. Five months later she has over 60,000 subscribers. As you can tell numbers talk and Mo is something to talk about.

I began to get a little bored on YouTube and was searching for something new and different. I wanted to be subscribed to someone who was not caught up in the hype that this is bad for you and that was bad for you. I just wanted someone to bring new ideas and techniques to YouTube. That is exactly what Mo did!

Mo came with products that are rarely heard on YouTube, she didn’t come on that Tressemme Natural kick or heat is the devil type of thing. She just was focused on showing new ways to do our favorite, go to natural hair styles. Mo even suggest to use what works on your hair versus going out and buying what she has.

If you have not ran across Mo you need to search her because Mo Knows Hair!

Mineral Oil… A Natural’s Worst Enemy…. Not Really

I don’t know about you but as a child I had very very very long healthy hair. Amongst all those things that my mother used to do my hair the one thing that I know she did use was….GREASE/Mineral Oil. So you can understand why I was flabbergasted when I became natural and heard that this was a No,No.

I hear all the hoopla that it clogs pores and that mineral oil is like the trashiest oil you can get. Too bad! I’m not falling for it.

I did my own research on the matter and found a lot that contradicts what the natural hair community claims. Mo Knows Hair from Youtube referred me to an article from on  NaturallyCurly.com that must have been looked over by everyone in the natural hair community. Go Figures!

Coily Manifesto: Using Mineral Oil for Hair

This article shocked the hell out of me because it is clearly stating that Mineral Oil can be good for curly locks and names numerous benefits that it can give our hair.

Mineral oil can rhydrate your hair but is not a sealing oil. It does not seal your hand strands like it is said to. It will not stop any moisture from going in your hair or leaving your hair. Mineral Oil actually helps you retain the moisture!

Mineral Oil can help with frizz, detangling, and shine.

Mineral Oil also have to be used in moderation. You can’t just stick your entire hand in the jar and not expect to come out with oily greasy hair. A little goes a long way and last for a while.

Lastly Mineral Oil is NOT TRASH! It comes from the Earth. It is a Natural Oil.
