I’m Snow and I decided to start this blog as an Alternative to the Traditional Lifestyle of a NATURAL.

I started transitioning my hair without even knowing it. Before I even knew that there was a growing community of women and men who were leaving the beauty salon and setting shop in their own home; I made that decision to no longer perm my hair. My journey began December 2011. I went into the beauty salon with intentions of getting a well needed touch up but once I sat in that chair my new beautician quickly changed my mind . She educated me about my hair and brought to my attention of the curls that I straighten every time I use a perm. It didn’t take much to convince me but others were not sold too quickly.

Since that day in the beauticians chair I made the decision to go Natural and learn more about my hair. Then I found YouTube… my best friend. YouTube was flooded with all these videos that taught me things that I didn’t even know existed or mattered. After 2 years of watching these videos I had so many questions about all the “rules” that came with being natural. Some of those included not using silicones, sulfates, and mineral oil. I started to do research on my own and could not find scientific research to back up all the things I had heard. In 2012 I found several youtubbers speaking up against all these “rules” that kind of seem might I say ridiculous. I continues to watch all these videos in different way. Instead of focusing on what they used or suggested me to use I focused on their techniques and any educational videos about hair structure and curl structure.

I have become “Knot Your Average Curl” I don’t follow the traditional curls rules.

I FOLLOW MY OWN HAIR RULES. I DO WHAT I WANT. IF IT WORKS I’LL USE IT. IF IT DOESN’T I’LL TOSS IT.
